Dexter Cattle originally came from Ireland and were introduced into England sometime in the early 1880s. T
he Dexter Cattle at Rutland Water are at the west side of the reservoir and at the time Penny was commissioned to paint this painting in 2005 there were long Earred Owls at the Reserve. T
he Reserve is famous for it's Ospreys that regularly Migrate to Rutland Water every year.ur favouite walks is from Sykes Lane at Empingham across the damn and on to the Normanton passing Normanton Church on the right.
