Bluebells at Barnsdale Wood

Bluebells at Barnsdale Wood by Penny Richardson

Barnsdale Wood has some ancient woodland at Rutland Water near Barnsdale Country Club on the A606

This painting of Barnsdale Wood in Oils on canvas is of a young plantation of scotts pine, silver birch and a mixture of hardwoods close to the waters edge on the north shore.
Up until the early 1970s this part of Barnsdale Wood was part of Exton Estates. Barnsdale Wood has some marvellous Oak trees that stand behind this view of Rutland Water.

In the 1950s, 60s and 70s many of the best english oaks were felled, but thers are still some good examles of ancient woodland left.
